Privacy Policy
NeuroMeteo (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) is a personal health tracking application designed to help users monitor chronic spine pain and analyze bio-meteorological triggers. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how NeuroMeteo collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
To provide bio-meteorological correlations, personal analytics, and proactive weather alerts, NeuroMeteo collects the following types of data:
- Health & Symptom Data: Self-reported pain intensity levels (1–100 numerical scale), timestamps of pain episodes, and optional user-entered notes regarding symptoms or physical activities.
- Location Data (Precise & Coarse GPS): Geographic coordinates (latitude, longitude, and elevation) captured at the moment of logging pain or fetching local weather. This is required to fetch accurate barometric pressure, temperature, humidity, and atmospheric telemetry for your specific location via third-party meteorological APIs.
- Physical Activity Data (Step Count): Daily step counts (today and yesterday) fetched from your device’s physical activity sensors. This helps differentiate pain caused by physical overexertion from pain caused by atmospheric changes.
- Environmental & Space Weather Telemetry: Barometric pressure, 3-hour pressure velocity (ΔP / Δt), ambient temperature, relative humidity, wind metrics, geomagnetic Kp-index, and lunar phases.
- Account & Authentication Information: When you sign in with Google, we collect your Google Account ID, display name, and email address via Firebase Authentication to create and secure your private user account.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the collected information strictly for the following functional purposes:
- To log, display, and visualize your personal pain history against atmospheric and space weather trends.
- To compute statistical correlation metrics (e.g., Pearson correlation) and generate machine learning feature datasets for your personal use.
- To deliver local push notifications (Meteo-Alerts) prior to forecasted rapid pressure drops or geomagnetic storms.
- To securely synchronize your records across your personal devices via Firebase Cloud Firestore.
We do not use your data for advertising, marketing, profiling, or commercial exploitation.
3. Storage, Security & Offline-First Architecture
- Local Storage: All logs are primarily stored locally on your device in an encrypted SQLite database (
neurometeo.db). The App remains fully functional offline. - Cloud Synchronization: When connected to the internet, data is synced to Google Firebase Cloud Firestore (
users/{userId}/entries). - Access Controls: Firebase Security Rules enforce strict owner-only access policies (
request.auth.uid == userId). Nobody else—including third parties—can access or view your private health records.
4. Third-Party Services
NeuroMeteo integrates with trusted third-party service providers solely to perform essential app functionality:
- Google Firebase (Authentication & Cloud Firestore): Used for user authentication and private cloud database synchronization. Google Privacy Policy
- Open-Meteo API: Used to fetch current atmospheric weather and 48-hour forecasts based on your location. Open-Meteo Privacy Terms
- NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC): Used to retrieve planetary geomagnetic Kp-index forecasts.
We do not sell, rent, or share any personal, location, or health data with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or analytics networks.
5. Data Retention & User Rights (Data Deletion)
- Data Ownership & Export: You own your data. You can export your full observation history and ML feature dataset to CSV files at any time via the App’s menu.
- Data Deletion: You can delete individual pain records directly inside the App. If you wish to delete your entire account and all associated cloud data from Firebase, you can submit a deletion request or contact us at
pernat.dev@google.com.
6. Children’s Privacy
NeuroMeteo is not directed toward children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in certain legal jurisdictions). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be published on this web page with a revised “Last Updated” date.
